The Church and the Environment – What Ethical guidelines for a deeper Justice?

As a critical issue of global justice and an experience of a deep crisis, the ecological question is not only a concern of formal politics but also of civil society. How should humanity respond to current developments, which increasingly aggravate the already damaged relation between humankind and nature?

Christian churches, too, are called to contribute: what responses do they provide, in view of an accelerated destruction of the natural environment that has no precedent in history? What potential for guidance lies in their traditions of social ethics tradition? Our conference will analyse the possibilities and prospects for the churches in their treatement of current environmental conflicts.

This event is organised by the Centre Avec in Brussels with the Jesuit European Social Centre (JESC). The lecture and discussion will be followed by a verre de l’amitié. Admission is free.
